Apply to Score VITAL2026 Abstracts
New Volunteer Opportunity
America’s Essential Hospitals seeks volunteers to review and score concurrent learning session abstracts submitted for VITAL2026, the association’s annual conference, June 10–12, in Minneapolis.
Reviewers will ensure VITAL2026 offers participants— staff from essential hospitals and nonmember hospitals—both broad and focused learning experiences based on four topical tracks:
- Executive Leadership Lessons
- Policy and Finance
- Innovations in Health Care
- Population and Community-Integrated Health Care
Your participation as a reviewer will help America’s Essential Hospitals develop a conference program that reflects the unique needs of members hospitals, like yours.

Important Dates
- Aug. 27: Call for Reviewers application period opens
- Oct. 1, 5 pm ET: Call for Reviewers application period closes
- Oct. 8: Reviewers notified of acceptance
Reviewer Process
If you are selected as a reviewer:
- You will be assigned to review and score abstracts through an online scoring system, open Oct. 29 to Dec. 1.
- You will rate proposals objectively based on four criteria and provide open-ended, constructive feedback.
- We estimate it will take you two to three hours to complete the reviews.
- Abstracts will be scored on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the current health care environment and essential hospitals
- Focus on essential hospital services or underserved populations
- Emphasis on improving health care outcomes
- Ability to be replicated or sustained in other essential hospitals
- Quantifiable outcome data and a description of methodology
- Clarity and quality of written abstract
Reviewer Qualifications
- Reviewers must be a current employee of a full member hospital or health system.
- We seek volunteers with a variety of backgrounds, including, but not exclusive to:
- Clinical practice
- C-suite and executive leadership
- Government relations
- Finance and reimbursement
- Population health
- Community and patient engagement
